NEVO+ Digital DevKit – Simplify control, monitoring and integration for NEVO+ Digital Output Modules.

The NEVO Digital DevKit is an open-source development platform designed to simplify control and monitoring of up to 8 channels of NEVO+ Digital Output Modules. It helps engineers move faster from evaluation to integration with web-based control, SCPI/VISA communication, SCPI via REST API and direct PMBus development options.

NEVO+ Digital Output Modules add PMBus 1.2 compatible digital control and monitoring to the NEVO platform while keeping the familiar mechanical format. The DevKit provides a practical bridge between low-level PMBus communication and higher-level development workflows, helping you evaluate, configure and integrate digital NEVO outputs more quickly.

Web interface

(easy control, monitoring and data logging)

Use the browser-based virtual instrument and datalogger for quick setup, monitoring and evaluation of each connected channel. View operating values, adjust settings and log performance through a visual interface. The DevKit web instrument demo is accessed over WiFi.

Try the DevKit Web Interface Playground. This interactive simulation recreates the look, feel and key behaviours of the DevKit web interface, allowing you to explore settings, warnings, monitoring and data logging using simulated module data.
Parameters you can view and adjust include live readings for voltage, current, power and temperature, along with settings such as output voltage, droop, over-voltage and under-voltage warning thresholds, current limit, startup timing, zone, address, sense selection, output on/off, and storage of settings to non-volatile memory (NVM).

Replicating configurations – Exported JSON files can be provided to the factory for pre-programming or used to simplify programming of multiple systems.

Best for: Evaluation, lab work, demos, troubleshooting.

SCPI via VISA

For automated test and software-driven workflows, the DevKit includes a SCPI interpreter and supports VISA-based communication over USBTMC and TCPIP. This makes it well suited to ATE setups, scripted test environments and lab automation.

Best for: ATE, production test, scripted control sequences.

SCPI via REST API

The DevKit can accept SCPI commands via a REST API, giving developers a practical route for software integration and access to control and query functions using the same SCPI command set.

Best for: Software integration, automated scripting, quick test tools.

Direct PMBus access

For engineers working closer to the protocol level, the DevKit also supports direct PMBus access for development, debugging and deeper integration work.

Best for: Advanced development, low-level control, troubleshooting.

The DevKit is designed for systems using multiple digital output modules. It can identify connected modules and support zone-based grouped control, helping to simplify setup and coordinated control of systems with multiple output rails.

On power-up, the DevKit scans the NEVO slots, identifies installed modules and automatically resolves duplicate SMBus addresses so each module can communicate uniquely. Once scanning is complete, USB and WiFi communications become active. Persistent address changes can then be stored to non-volatile memory as part of the configuration workflow.

The DevKit supports repeatable development and production workflows. Engineers can adjust output voltage, current limits, warning thresholds, droop and start-up timing, then store settings to non-volatile memory so modules power up in a predetermined state.

Configuration files can also be exported and imported to replicate known-good setups across similarly configured units, helping streamline lab work, evaluation builds and production preparation.

The DevKit hardware and software are open source and can be modified to suit the customer’s application, equipment and workflow. This also makes the DevKit a useful reference platform for teams developing their own controller hardware or integrating control directly into a wider system architecture.

Hardware expansion is available through Mikroe plug-in boards, providing a path for custom implementation of additional communications interfaces where required.

The NEVO Digital DevKit is intended for use with NEVO+ Digital Output Modules, including OP1D, OP2D, OP3D, OP4D, OPA2D and OPA3D, used in NEVO+600 and NEVO+1200 configurations.
